Valve/Pumps Casting

The quality control of pump castings can be considered from the following aspects:
1. Material selection:
Gray cast iron: commonly used and cost-effective, suitable for the treatment of liquid without particles, with good shock absorption.
Ductile iron: higher strength and toughness than gray cast iron, suitable for conveying liquid containing particles, while able to withstand a certain pressure.
2. Casting process:
Casting method: large castings are suitable for resin sand process, small pump body is suitable for film sand process
Surface quality: The surface of the pump body casting should be smooth, without sand holes, pores, cracks and other defects, especially in the key parts to ensure durability and tightness.
Microstructure: The inside of the casting should be dense without shrinkage holes, cracks or segregation and other defects.
Stress control: Heat treatment, such as annealing, should be carried out after casting to eliminate residual stress and prevent the pump body from cracking or deformation due to stress changes during use.
Summary: High-quality pump castings should choose the most suitable casting process, no sand holes, good surface finish, and wear resistance, corrosion resistance and pressure resistance.
